Magis
The project
Magis is geographical information system developed for the Ministry of Agriculture of Luxembourg. The target plateforme is hosted by Centre des Technologies de l'information de l'Etat and the development is outsourced to CS Systèmes d'Information. The requirements definition is made in-house and started in 2000.

Development began in 2003 and the features of the initial scope, i.e. the modules that manage the parcel declaration of the farmers, were first operational in 2007. Major features, like for example the parcel declaration of the whinegrowers, were integrated later or are still in development.

Technical information
The system is distributed over several plateformes, including IBM zSeries with z/OS, Sun SPARC with Unix and IBM x86 with SuSE Linux. The user interface is composed of web components accessible from any modern browser and Java Swing modules.

The programming was done with J2EE, Java SE, Java applet, Javascript, HTML, CSS and Cobol/CICS. Libraries include the CTIE Common Framework, Mapserver and Kaboum.
