Macaa
The project
Macaa is an alphanumeric database application that manages the EU subsidies for the farmes of Luxembourg. The application is hosted by Centre des Technologies de l'Information. Analysis and development began in 1993 and were first done by a company named Gamlor, which doesn't exist anymore. From 2000 on the project development was given to S.C.S. Consulting.

Since 2003 most development on the software is being done in-house. Still a lot of time is spent on maintaining the application. Starting from 2006 the application is being enhanced by web-based modules.

Technical information
Macaa is a classical Cobol/CICS application that runs on an IBM Mainframe with a DB2 database. From 2006 on large parts are being rewritten into a service oriented architecture.

Also, the application is being enhanced by J2EE web based modules. We use the Java Connector architecture (JCA) for interfaces between the web-based and the CICS part of the application
